Durbeyfield family´s circumstances
become desperate, their young daughter, Tess tries to find a solution to
their problem. Hoping to earn money for help her family, she goes to work for a
wealthy relative. There she meets Alec
and the rest of Tess ´ life changed .
In this
novel Thomas Hardy introduced a sympathetic portrayal of a “fallen woman”
and it was initially refused
publication. This writer is well-known for his critical position about
Victorian society.
